Why investing in a Pin Hole Detector PHD?

The benefits of a PHD can be seen from two angles of view:

  1. Production determined control of type, size and amount of pin holes

Here are pharma-packages surely in the focus. Incursion of oxygen and UV-light alter the characteristic of chemical products like pills. High precision, three/five classes and LED or Laser-based PHD  are a must to monitor the product quality. Also the requirement regarding quality of food packages, e.g. membrane for powdered milk (baby food), increases more and more and demands high precision foil inspection.

  2. Continues process improvement

Each separated material web is been inspected. Amount, size and type of pin holes are analyzed related to their origin. Why? The origination of pin holes very often happens much earlier than their discovery. So up-stream defects are being dragged thru the whole production process. This is quite cost-intensive. The PHD permits an intensive and systematically process evaluation and allow retracing of up-stream defects, such as unsuitable cast or mill-oil filtering, inclusions, poor scalping or mechanical damage due to back-up or working roll defects. All this information is a precondition for future process improvements.

System characteristics
